News from the "maternity wing"

A little over 3 weeks ago, Miss Heidi brought 41 chicken eggs to our classroom. They were brown and white and green and smooth and lovely, sitting in the incubator aka the "chickenator" (dubbed last year by another student). Next step was to wait (not so) patiently for them to hatch.

Look! There's a crack!

Our first chick is hatching!

Once they started, they just didn't stop! This was day 2...

This is where we're at today... 17 lovely, fluffy chicks!
We'd like to thank Miss Heidi for bringing us this beautiful project for the second year in a row. We learned about the life cycle of chicks, we learned responsibility, and we learned to be gentle. We also learned that baby chicks are noisy and a little bit stinky!

Thanks a million, Miss Heidi! This was amazing!
